Isaiah 11:1

And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

I do apologize for so many stained glass windows post but this last photo outing I forgot my flash so I was limited in what I could do. Having said that. This is a popular scene in many of the Catholic Churches either in stained glass or statue. It shows a very young Mary and her Mother Anne. The banner in Latin translates into the verse above.

I really like the way this one came out. It is now one of my favorite Stained Glass Windows Pics.

  1. What exactly are you apologizing for in this post? You specify being limited due to a lack of flash but I don't see any thing lesser in this post than the others. This one is as fantastic as all the rest!! And just out of curiosity, where did folks get the name of Mary's mother? I can't find that anywhere in the Bible, although I might have simply not found it. Great work as always Russ!!

  2. Kelline, I try hard not to make this a Stained Glass Window Blog. It's hard because the windows in these churches are simply beautiful. So I try not to do too many stained glass window post in a row and too break them up with non-stained glass windows post. As for the explanation of Mary's parents check out these two links: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Anne and http://www.lib.rochester.edu/camelot/teams/44sr.htm
