By tradition, the Catholic Church dedicates each month of the year to a certain devotion. In August, it is the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The Immaculate Heart is often venerated together with the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Just as the Sacred Heart represents Christ's love for mankind, the Immaculate Heart represents the Blessed Virgin's desire to lead all people to Christ.

This is just one of those window lit portraits that I just happen to luck into. I love this picture. It will make the Top Ten for 2012 for sure.
