Immaculate Conception Church (Celina Ohio) III

Since we are still celebrating Easter I thought this beautiful large stained glass window of the Resurrected Christ would be a fitting post. I had to shoot this at an angle to avoid a hanging light. I was happy that I was able to adjust it in PhotoShop. You have to love that Skew Tool. This church has a lot of stained glass windows and I will try and post as many as I can but that's all for now.

Immaculate Conception Church (Celina Ohio) II

After spending most of the day in Hamilton Ohio, hiking and taking pictures in Pyramid Park, I decided to take the scenic route back home via State Route 127. I wanted to revisit the Immaculate Conception Church in Celina and hopefully get some inside shots. It's one of the few of "The Land of the Cross Tipped Churches" that had never been inside. All I can say is it is beautiful and large. It will take several visits and many post to properly cover this church. I plan on doing a post just featuring the altar pictured here for now this teaser will have to do.

Above on the ceiling is this beautiful mural of the Immaculate Conception. It is very large and covers the entire domed ceiling. Pictured here is just a part of it.



My artistic shot from this visit came from looking up. I saw the round stained glass window and chandelier and new it would be a pretty cool shot. The trick was focusing on the glass and not the chandelier. It also took a few tries to get everything lined up.

Immaculate Conception Church Celina Ohio

The immaculate Conception Church in Celina Ohio is not on the scenic byway but is part of The Land of the Cross Tipped Churches. I took the opportunity to visit it on my way back from taking pictures at St. Anthony. I had never been to Celina before and was surprised by the number of photo ops it offered besides the church. I am definitely going back to spend some quality time walking around and taking pictures.

While swapping out lenses a most unfortunate thing happened. I dropped my lens (While standing on the concrete sidewalk). The lens survived but my circular polarizer did not. I guess I should not complain as it probably sacrificed its life to save my lens. If you only have one filter the circular polarizer is the one to have....so I will have to replace it. It's greatly responsible for the nice blue skies that I get. I also use it in place of a Neutral Density Filter when I have a need for one.

This year I have lost one 2GB Compact Flash Card to the Laundry, One lens Cap in Cincinnati and now one Polarizer Filter. Not too bad but it still hurts the pocket book.
