A Healing Prayer

Picture of painting The Virgin in Prayer lit by candel light.
A Healing Prayer

At Cana, the Mother of Jesus said to the servers,
"Do whatever he tells you." John 2:5

Jesus, heal our lives,
our broken spirits,
our hearts and minds,
our body and soul.

Jesus hear our prayer;
You know our weakness,
our struggle and pain,
for You too have suffered.

Jesus Listen in love
as you once did at Cana
to your Mother Mary,
and respond in mercy.

Amen

Madonna and Child

Memorare

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided.

Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O virgin of virgins, my Mother; to you I come; before you I stand, sinful and; sorrowful.

O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

Cross Tipped Churches - Poem

Cross Tipped Churches

Look upon the cross that,
withstands the wind.
Which will open up our hearts
and wipe away sin.

Where faith is a flower
and memories are forever.
Lend an ear dear father,
for our strength is prayer.

Cross tipped churches rise above
the sun soaked fields of grain.
like lighthouses leading us through
harbors of dark rocky waves of pain.

Candles of light that shine bright.
Where altars are aglow-
under stain glass windows
that tell tales from long ago.

A breeze whispers through the tall grass,
and gray stones that represent the forgotten past.
Look upon the cross that withstands the wind.

Angel de la Guarda - Del Puente

(Guardian Angel) - Spanish Prayer

Amen.

O, Christ Crowned in Shame!

O, that Your head was compassed about!
Compassed about with flowers
A wreath of laurels befitting my King

O, that You were anointed!
Anointed with precious ointment
Running down Your head to Your beard

O, that You were crowned!
Crowned with the finest jeweled diadem
A diadem befitting Your justice

Alas, Your head is compassed about!
Compassed about with thorns
A wreath of thorns insults my King

Alas, You are anointed!
Anointed with Your own precious blood
Running down Your head to Your beard

Alas, You are crowned!
Crowned with the most torturous diadem
A diadem befitting my sin

O, that I could remove!
Remove that crown of shame
and wipe Your face clean

Alas, I shall join!
I shall join my suffering to Yours
And with Your grace endure
After the example of my King

Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep

Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray thee, Lord, my soul to keep. See me safely through the night and wake me with the morning light. Amen.

The St. John's church has these wonderful wall paintings of angels. I have taken pictures of them every time I have visited the church. I finally got a keeper with this visit.

The Our Father

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Memorare
Remember, most loving Virgin Mary,
never was it heard
that anyone who turned to you for help
was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence,
though burdened by my sins,
I run to your protection
for you are my mother.
Mother of the Word of God,
do not despise my words of pleading
but be merciful and hear my prayer.
Amen.

Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Prayer Before A Crucifix

Prayer before a Crucifix

Look down upon me, good and gentle Jesus
while before Your face I humbly kneel and,
with burning soul,
pray and beseech You
to fix deep in my heart lively sentiments
of faith, hope, and charity;
true contrition for my sins,
and a firm purpose of amendment.

While I contemplate,
with great love and tender pity,
Your five most precious wounds,
pondering over them within me
and calling to mind the words which David,
Your prophet, said to You, my Jesus:

"They have pierced My hands and My feet,
they have numbered all My bones."

Amen.

The Act of Contrition

"O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of Heaven, and the pains of Hell; but most of all because I love Thee, my God, Who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. Amen."

Sacred Heart of Jesus (Prayer)

Merciful Jesus,

I consecrate myself today and always,
To your Most Sacred Heart.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus
I implore that I may ever love You
More and more,

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus
I trust in You!

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus
Have mercy on us!
Sacred Heart of Jesus
I believe in Your love for me,
Jesus, meek and humble of heart,
Make my heart like Your Heart. Amen.

Prayer of Saint Augustine to the Blessed Virgin

Outdoor statue of the Virgin Mary.
O blessed Virgin Mary, who can worthily repay thee thy just dues of praise and thanksgiving, thou who by the wondrous assent of thy will didst rescue a fallen world? What songs of praise can our weak human nature recite in thy honor, since it is by thy intervention alone that it has found the way to restoration. Accept, then, such poor thanks as we have here to offer, though they be unequal to thy merits; and receiving our vows, obtain by thy prayers the remission of our offenses.

Carry thou our prayers within the sanctuary of the heavenly audience, and bring forth from it the antidote of our reconciliation. May the sins we bring before Almighty God through thee, become pardonable through thee; may what we ask for with sure confidence, through thee be granted. Take our offering, grant us our requests, obtain pardon for what we fear, for thou art the sole hope of sinners.

Through thee we hope for the remission of our sins, and in thee, O blessed Lady, is our hope of reward. Holy Mary, succor the miserable, help the fainthearted, comfort the sorrowful, pray for thy people, plead for the clergy, intercede for all women consecrated to God; may all who keep thy holy commemoration feel now thy help and protection. Be thou ever ready to assist us when we pray, and bring back to us the answers to our prayers. Make it thy continual care to pray for the people of God, thou who, blessed by God, didst merit to bear the Redeemer of the world, who liveth and reigneth, world without end. Amen.

Prayer to the Immaculate Conception

Large bronze statue of the Immaculate Conception
O God, who by the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary,

did prepare a worthy dwelling place for Your Son, we beseech You that,

as by the foreseen death of this, Your Son, You did preserve Her from all stain,

so too You would permit us, purified through Her intercession, to come unto You.

Through the same Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son,

who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

God, world without end.

Amen.

A Prayer Before The Relics

Oh, Saints of God, in faith and confidence I turn my prayers to you. I am told that these relics are portions of your earthly remains. These relics call to mind your lives of virtue, your lives dedicated to the love of Christ and of His holy Gospel.

I ask your prayers on this, my pilgrimage. I pray that you may join as one great choir asking our loving Father to assist me in my life, to help me find the path to holiness, to a life filled with virtue and love.

All you holy children of the Father, who are a great strength to the Church, bless me with your prayers. I give praise to our Father for your lives of faith and courage, for your love and devotion. I offer thanksgiving for your example to the world and your prayers for me.

Amen.

Prayer and pictures from the Shrine of the Holy Relics.

Special thanks goes out to Sr. Regina for the tour and opening up the Relic Chapel and letting me have a chance to see the Relic Chapel in all its glory.

To Jesus and the Cross

To Jesus and the Cross

The love of God fell to the ground and died,
but from that brokenness, new love has grown
because that seed could not abide alone,
and now so many in Christ's life abide
that many more unreached can now decide
if we go where the Gospel is unknown
and show them how our love is not our own,
but is our Savior's, for we are His Bride.

Our love shall fall into the ground and die
when we believe on Jesus, count the cost,
and be to every ear and every eye
a witness of the Gospel to the lost
so when they see our love and ask us why,
we can lead them to Jesus and the Cross.

Lovest Thou Me? I Hear My Saviour Say

Lovest thou Me? I hear my Saviour Say

"Lovest thou Me?" I hear my Saviour say;
Would that my heart had power to answer "Yea,"
Thou knowest all things, Lord, in heaven above,
And earth beneath; Thou knowest that I love."

But 'tis not so; in word, in deed, in thought,
I do not, cannot love Thee as I ought;
Thy love must give that power, Thy love alone;
There's nothing worthy of Thee but Thine own.

Lord, with the love wherewith Thou lovest me,
Reflected on Thyself, I would love Thee;
Thence on my brethren shed, might it be seen
By all around, that I with Thee had been.

A Healing Prayer

At Cana, the Mother of Jesus said to the servers,
"Do whatever he tells you." John 2:5

Jesus, heal our live,
our broken spirits,
our hearts and minds,
our body and soul.

Jesus hear our prayer;
You know our weakness,
our struggle and pain,
for You too have suffered.

Jesus Listen in love
as you once did at Cana
to your Mother Mary,
and respond in mercy.

Amen

I just loved the way the portrait was illuminated by the candle light. The prayer comes from a prayer card with a picture of the same portrait on front that I found lying on the table the candle was sitting on.
